Bug Type Weakness
What Bug Pokémon are weak to, what they resist and how to beat them.
Bug type weakness is three types: Fire, Flying and Rock. Bug Pokémon resist Grass, Fighting and Ground. Bug moves hit Grass, Psychic and Dark for double damage, a useful trio, but seven types resist Bug, so most Bug Pokémon lean on their second type.

Best counters to Bug
The best answer to a Bug Pokémon is something that hits it hard and shrugs off its attacks. These types do both:
Rock also hits Bug for double damage but doesn't resist it, so use it to attack first.
For example: Charizard, Ninetales and Pidgeot.
Bug dual types
A second type changes everything. These Bug pairings have the fewest weaknesses:
Bug / Steel: weak to Fire (4×); immune to Poison. Example: Forretress.
Bug / Electric: weak to Fire and Rock. Example: Galvantula.
Bug / Water: weak to Electric, Flying and Rock. Example: Araquanid.
Bug / Rock: weak to Water, Rock and Steel. Example: Shuckle.
Check any pair yourself on the type chart.
Tip
Bug / Steel (Scizor, Forretress) has one weakness, Fire, but it is a 4× one. A single Flamethrower ends the fight. Pair it with a Water type that can take the hit.
