Dragon Type Weakness
What Dragon Pokémon are weak to, what they resist and how to beat them.
Dragon type weakness is three types: Ice, Dragon and Fairy. Dragon Pokémon resist the four classic starter types: Fire, Water, Electric and Grass. Dragon moves hit only Dragon for double damage, and Fairy types are immune to them, so a Dragon attacker needs a second move type.

What Dragon moves are good against
Best counters to Dragon
The best answer to a Dragon Pokémon is something that hits it hard and shrugs off its attacks. These types do both:
- Fairyhits Dragon for 2×, takes 0× from Dragon moves.
Ice and Dragon also hit Dragon for double damage but don't resist it, so use them to attack first.
Dragon dual types
A second type changes everything. These Dragon pairings have the fewest weaknesses:
Dragon / Steel: weak to Fighting and Ground; immune to Poison. Example: Hisuian Goodra.
Dragon / Water: weak to Dragon and Fairy. Example: Kingdra.
Dragon / Fire: weak to Ground, Rock and Dragon. Example: Turtonator.
Dragon / Normal: weak to Ice, Fighting, Dragon and Fairy; immune to Ghost. Example: Drampa.

Tip
Dragon / Flying (Dragonite, Salamence) takes 4× from Ice. Dragon / Steel (Dialga, Duraludon) drops the Ice and Fairy weaknesses and is weak only to Fighting and Ground.
