Poison Type Weakness
What Poison Pokémon are weak to, what they resist and how to beat them.
Poison type weakness is two types: Ground and Psychic. Poison Pokémon resist five types, Grass, Fighting, Poison, Bug and Fairy. Poison moves hit Grass and Fairy for double damage, and Fairy is one of the hardest types to hit otherwise. Steel types are immune to Poison moves.

What Poison moves are good against
Best counters to Poison
The best answer to a Poison Pokémon is something that hits it hard and shrugs off its attacks. These types do both:
- Groundhits Poison for 2×, takes ½× from Poison moves.
Psychic also hits Poison for double damage but doesn't resist it, so use it to attack first.
Poison dual types
A second type changes everything. These Poison pairings have the fewest weaknesses:
Poison / Dark: weak to Ground; immune to Psychic. Example: Alolan Muk.
Poison / Normal: weak to Ground and Psychic; immune to Ghost. Example: Grafaiai.
Poison / Steel: weak to Fire and Ground (4×); immune to Poison. Example: Revavroom.
Poison / Fairy: weak to Ground, Psychic and Steel; immune to Dragon. Example: Galarian Weezing.

Tip
Poison / Dark (Drapion, Skuntank) is immune to Psychic and weak only to Ground. Poison / Flying (Crobat) is immune to Ground instead, but picks up Electric, Ice, Psychic and Rock weaknesses.

What resists Poison moves?
Poison, Ground, Rock and Ghost take half damage from Poison attacks. Steel take no damage at all.
