Fire Type Weakness
What Fire Pokémon are weak to, what they resist and how to beat them.
Fire type weakness comes down to three types: Water, Ground and Rock. In return, Fire Pokémon resist six types: Fire, Grass, Ice, Bug, Steel and Fairy. Fire moves burn through Grass, Ice, Bug and Steel, which makes a Fire attack one of the first things a team wants.

What Fire moves are good against
Best counters to Fire
The best answer to a Fire Pokémon is something that hits it hard and shrugs off its attacks. These types do both:
Ground also hits Fire for double damage but doesn't resist it, so use it to attack first.
For example: Blastoise, Golduck, Golem and Omastar.
Fire dual types
A second type changes everything. These Fire pairings have the fewest weaknesses:
Fire / Ground: weak to Water (4×) and Ground; immune to Electric. Example: Camerupt.
Fire / Water: weak to Electric, Ground and Rock. Example: Volcanion.
Fire / Dragon: weak to Ground, Rock and Dragon. Example: Turtonator.
Fire / Grass: weak to Poison, Flying and Rock. Example: Scovillain.

Tip
Rock is the sneaky one. Rock moves hit Fire for double damage, and Fire / Flying Pokémon like Charizard take 4× from them. Keep a Water or Ground partner around to deal with Rock types.
